Thanks for posting terry, it's all a bit mental this higher criticism, if only they'd find these extra sources and add some definition to all the speculation...

On Bart Ehrman's Blog+John's use of an early 'Signs document'
by TerryWalstrom inthe land of judea?
he then did signs in judea (3:22).
i think the greek is saying that this healing was jesus second sign, and he did this one after he had come from judea into galilee.

2034 - A Future History of Jehovah's Witnesses
by slimboyfat ini don't know what i am talking about... read this post at your peril.
back in the 1960s there was, seemingly, a brief period of relaxation in authoritarianism among jehovah's witnesses.
those who have read raymond franz's 'crisis of conscience' will have heard the story about dan sydlik's remark about the need to 'open some windows to let some air in here'.

Dude. I'm not saying either way.
But I'm awakened after forty years being fully in. My other half knows exactly how I feel, and because I love her I've agreed to pretend to be a witness to a very small extent.
The negatives? I attend most meetings, (except on the flimsiest of excuses) . I do a couple hours a month ministry.
The positives? I keep the pretty half happy, we both keep our social circle, and our families. I've been pretending for years so that's no biggie, and my HOPE is I'll be able to get her to think (eventually) about why I don't believe anymore.
Watch this space.

A Tug on the Leash (The Authority Which the GB Wields Over the R&F)
by Oubliette inrecently, several comments have been made in various threads in reference to some of the recent changes to a few of the rules by which jehovah's witnesses must live their lives in unquestioning compliance.
the assertion has been made that these rules are a "relaxing" of previous restrictions.
the suggestion has been made that this somehow indicates a corresponding relaxing or loosening or lessening of the authority which the governing body (gb) holds over the rank and file (r&f) members of the religion.

I just KNOW that if I showed my wife this, she'd say the girl was exaggerating, or that the anonymous examples the girl quotes were exaggerating, or that even if those things happened in individual congregations, it's by no means POLICY for such things to happen. Imperfect men and all that bs.

Hang in there matey, it may seem like a million years away, but the next couple of years will melt away faster than you'd think, then your life is truly your own.
It's tough growing up as a jdub, I was lucky in that I had a good bunch of mates, but I kept 'worldly' friends too..
Be happy that you're not hoodwinked by the BS so early in life, it took me forty years to realise my mistake!
Just start planning your future, it's gonna be an epic one! 😀

The Dublin/Ireland Apostasy of the 1970's
by Jim Dee inin jw land there is an account/gossip/talk of a great apostasy event in dublin in the late 1970s.
the society apparently had to send in an enforcer and the "dubs" were dealt with very harshly.. anybody any account/details of it?.

40 years on - and still in Damage Control mode!
by Bungi Bill inearlier this morning, i posted off to the the institute of engineers an application for membership as an "engineering associate":.
- today being just over 40 years since the congregation's retards elders made me abandon my apprenticeship.. (in this part of the world, the pre-1975 hype was taken to that level.
not being content to prevent young persons attending university, they went one step further and treated with hostility any youngster who would "tie up five years of their lives" by entering into an apprenticeship.
